Don't Let Ned Plant a Tree There!
by Andrea Koehle Jones · Illustrated by Erin Mercer · Published by DC Canada Education Publishing

About the Book
Meet Ned — a wildly enthusiastic puppy with one enormous dream: to plant trees and help the planet. The only problem? Ned has absolutely no idea where to plant them. When the lead planters leave Summerhill Tree Farm to pick up supplies, Ned turns to young readers for advice — unleashing a whirlwind of muddy mishaps, hilarious chaos, and genuine heart.
With hidden seedlings to spot on every page, real tree-planting tips built into the story, labelled tree types for real-world recognition, and laugh-out-loud dialogue in a hybrid picture book/graphic novel format, this is a book that rewards reading again and again.
Why We Love This Book
We love how this book makes environmental stewardship feel joyful and achievable for young readers. Ned's enthusiasm is contagious — and the story sneaks in real science, real tree species, and real ecology alongside the laughs. One hundred percent of the author's profits go to environmental education programs for children. That's a book that actually plants seeds.
Bonus Extras
- Mini Spelling Bee word cards (see below)
- Find the hidden seedlings — a challenge on every page!
