Set a date! The first step is to set a date in your school calendar to have your spelling bee competition; your school can host a spelling bee day or week.
Prepare. With your list, take time each week to study the words with your class(es). The more time the better. Students can practice at home with their families. It’s a great way to get them involved.
Spelling Bee Time! This can be a class event, a grade event, a school wide event, or a combination of all three. With the assistance of a Canada Super Spelling Bee representative, we will connect with you closer to your spelling bee event to ensure you are ready. Your school will be responsible for setting up the spelling bee and providing both judges and a pronouncer. These can be teachers or even volunteer students. Don’t forget to take a picture and send to us. The top three spellers will move on to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee on May 2, 2020. Schools may submit a list of five to seven spellers for a school team to compete during the regional competition. Schools must complete their spelling bee and submit their top spellers and team no later than Saturday, March 31st, 2020.
A representative from Canada Super Spelling Bee will contact you for the names of the top spellers and team. All schools will receive the new word list for the regional competition by Monday, April 6th via e-mail. All students and teams across the NCR will have the same amount of time to prepare for the regional competition.
